Thomas and I traveled about Laos together for a bit, he was a cool guy but couldn't play this game for shit!

... and then some others joined us for a new game.

We made it up as went along, but I remember it being a belter!

Thomas was Norwegian and obviously homesick - "I've gone to the Scandinavian bakery, I was a little home sick"

The Laos people didn't waste the scrap metal that rained on their heads in the Vietnam war (yes the US did bomb Laos also)

Plain of Jars - Site A

Luang Phabang is full of temples and monks. It's a World Heritage Site.

Only 9 and half hours on this bad boy... oh yeah complete with armed guard, just in case...

Our hostel's front room was full of rusting cases, bullets, shells, rocket launchers...

Just by the Plain of Jars, Site A

The Plain of Jars are several fields full of funeral / whisky(/wine) brewing pots that have been there for centuries and now one knows why!

Most of the lids have not survived

If you look carefully you'll spot the carving of a man fueling the argument that they are funeral urns.

This gives an idea of just how many jars there are!

Which many people believe was the kiln for the jars. The holes are in the ceiling and were chimneys!

Forces hid here during the Vietnam war also

This gives a good idea of the size of the jars

The joke with the guides is that only the Europeans are tall enough to see what is in the jar (we haven't bothered to tell them there isn't anything...)
