I hired a cycle for about $1US and cycled out 10 km to the countryside. Two Swiss tourists were shot just 3 month previous here (I didn't know!) |

There were many activities offered here including tubing down this river! |

I met these guys and a few Beer Lao's were consumed. Pictured on the old US Air force runway used in the Vietnam war. |

The run way is now used as a bus stop, car park, tuk-tuk rest stop.... |

Accessible only by boat is a cave full of knackered old Buddha statues. The locals go every new year to bathe the statues for good luck... |

Though it has to be say its pretty disappointing compared to the photos in the guidebooks... |

Most of the statues are only a couple of inches tall, the postcards and guide books make them look huge! |
