My route so far...

HI all you lovely peeps.

Hazel gave me a book called 'McCarthy's Bar' anyone who hasnt read this should go out now and buy a copy. But he has these rules of travelling e.g. 1 - "Never pass a bar that has your name without having a drink" so i am gonna start my own for comic effect. (see end of email)

1. Well since i last emithered you I have mostly been in Malaysia.. though I'm now in Singapore (the cleanest city in the world).

Surprisingly i have been here for over 24 hours now and not one Singapore Sling has passed my lips (I'm sorry Liz, i know you wont approve) but its due to some medication I'm on!

2. After leaving Penang (which of course is NOT the capital, i was just being stupid, ta Ewan). I headed to the Cameron Highlands. This is basically a jungle where all the animals have been shot and eaten and half the jungle is felled with tea plantations replacing them.

3. Then it was onto the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen in the Perhentian Islands (#11 and 12 on the map) where I spent a day on the larger island looking for Joanne only to find she stood me up for the first of two times! After moving to the smaller (and better) island and finding Jo I went on a snorkeling trip and saw two Giant Turtles (all about two metres away) and a shark! Soooo cool, on of the turtles swan right past me to come up for air! I've never seen anything like it!

4. Then i had enough of the beach so headed for Taman Negara, which is a jungle even older than the Amazon. Here I developed my first dose of food poisioning a(whilst mid trek!) and was saved with Imodium from a lovely Norwegian couple (Norway goes top of my fav. travelling partner people)! We stayed a night in a cave that the bats live (and SH1te) in!

5. Kuala Lumpur was pretty cool, I'm heading back there in four days to check out the indpendence day celebrations (its 45 years since the brits gave them independece!) and from there I fly onto Mount Kinabaloa to climb, well the mountain!

6. Before I go I'm gonna check out a music festival in Singapore and the night zoo and of course sink a Singapore sling!

Attached are some photos from my travels (now i have the digital camera set up you'll get some photos now!)

1. Me on the canopy walkway in Taman Negara (the largest in the world!)

2. An example of the fine accomodation i stay in (i dont think!)

And of course my updated map!

3. Me hazel and clare at a view point in Koh phan ngan?

4. The elephants warning sign in broken english that nearly got me in a lot of problems..

.... to be continued.

Steve-o-'s Fav. travelling nations
