Microsoft Office Project 2007, Managing Projects – Exam 70-632

The MCTS (Microsoft Certified Technical Specialist) qualifications and their associated exams have been some what cheapened by ‘brain dumps’ – aka the bloody answers served up on a plate to memorise.  It seems like there has been a recent move to try and shut the companies peddling these down a little and convert what they sell into revision guides.

I’ve just passed the  Microsoft Office Project 2007, Managing Projects – Exam 70-632 which makes me a MCTS!  Woo – I got a 883 result (700 to pass) from 45-odd questions.

There is now a NDA you have to agree to so I won’t give away the questions but I used the book below (which, rather unfairly, has got some shocking Amazon reviews!).  The book is useful for the exam (it’s all in there) – perhaps not the most thrilling read but it does point you to the right areas.  The book also though it does recommend the PMBOK guide (A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge: PMBOK Guide) –  I’m PRINCE2 qualified and didn’t really fancy another large tome of dryness to go through so I skipped this which is more than possible if you understand PERT and the other basics.
Thankfully they didn’t seem to throw up the stupid “Which Menu / tab would you find this setting” style questions which are totally pointless (which are on the test questions) – I mean if it’s not in the first menu you look in will you really lose your job if you have to click a couple of others?!?
