Day 47 - The Crown Range, the hardest part of the tour!
Dan (of Bungi Backpackers fame) had once told me that I'd never get over the Crown Range.... It starts from just outside Arrowtown (where I stopped for one of the best pies in NZ) with the first 3km easily being the steepest section I've ever rode. After this is levels out for 8km finishing wiht 3.5km of hell again! One lady driving past felt so sorry she offered me a homemade muffin from her windwo! There was a risk of snow and luckily it didn't! It was windy coming down the other side though!

Day 48 - Day of rest due to waking up to inches of snow fallen outside!
Having managed to avoid the worst of the early spring weather it finally caught me out!

Day 49 - No snow (thankfully)
No snow! Took off a little late and still wasn't sure that I wanted to go this distance! Tarras was a tempting stop (as I'd met the hostel owner in Haast weeks before). The Lindis pass was towards the end of the ride, a 970m climb when I was already tired! Felt good getting to the top though and it was nowhere near as steep as the Crown Range!
