Day 22 - The Wall

Really felt I hit a 'wall' today. Must be time for a rest day! What should have been an easy day was quite tiring. Lovely views as the road hits the coast and follows it the whole way to Kaikora, and there are no Magpies as their trees are inland only. Stayed at 'Adelphi Lodge' $19

Day 23 - Day of Rest and Dissapointment

Flashed the cash and booked myself onto a 'Dolphin Encounter' (swim with dolphins trip) and a whale watching trip. Got out on the boat, fully kitted out with swim suit, about 10 mins in the boat had to turn around and head back for land as a weather front, complete with gale force winds came in. Just before we turned around we spotted some 'Hectors Dolphins', a rare and endaged species! Got a refund but the gale force winds were a worry for tomorrows ride!

Day 24 - Cheap scots, maybe a little too cheap?

After having a few too many beers at the pub quiz (with our team coming second from last despite having 3 too many team members) I headed out a little later than usual! Thankfully the winds of yesterday had passed and I made it to Cheviot with only 3 magpies attacks! Came across two Scottish cycle tourists, I'd met the day before, with a buckled wheel. They were camping out everynight, illegally and going cheap. Today I found out that their weekly budget was $150, between them, mine is $50 a day! Stayed at Cheviot Motel $27.50 for my own cabin!

Day 25 - Where is Winston?

Quite a big day, but pretty flat. The big worry was a nasty southerly wind blowing me all over the show on NZ's State Highway 1! Lots of traffic, as you'd expect.

Day 26, 27, 28 - Rest days, and extending my visa at Immigration

Took a holiday from cycling, got my visa extended (thankfully!), and the bike serviced.
